The ability to follow a person as he or she traverses a surveillance area and create a complete record of their time under surveillance is critical. Traditional video surveillance techniques have lacked the real-time monitoring and analysis of complex events over time and across multiple cameras needed to build a case quickly and easily. IntelliVid’s patented Computer Aided Tracking™ (CAT) performs this critical real-time video analysis function. It guides the operator in following a suspect throughout the store. CAT, which automatically learns the layout of a store and the interrelationships between cameras, presents the most likely next camera to which a subject may travel. The operator can quickly monitor that camera and observe a suspect’s behavior, even as he or she crosses into the range of another camera. CAT’s advanced image processing enables retailers to track moving objects and people across multiple cameras throughout the store, live or forensically, thus verifying both the crime and the offender before apprehending the suspect.
